Acceptable Use Policy

Acceptable Use Policy

Version 1.0.0

Effective Date: October 8, 2026

This Acceptable Use Policy describes what you may not do when you use the Site, the Services, and the Products. Bristlecone IT Services (“BITS,” “we,” “us”) is operated by Corey J. Mahler. This policy is part of our Terms of Service, and capitalized terms that are not defined here have the meanings given there.

Product Terms Control

Some Products have their own rules. For example, the zDiary Terms of Use include their own License and Acceptable Use section. If this policy conflicts with Product Terms for a Product, the Product Terms control for that Product.

Free Software Licenses

Nothing in this policy limits any right a License grants you. For example, you may copy, modify, and redistribute a Plugin as its License (GPL-2.0-or-later) allows.

General Rules

Use the Site, the Services, and the Products lawfully and with respect for others. Do not use them to break the law or to violate anyone’s rights.

Prohibited Conduct

Forms and Messages

You may not use the Contact form, the Feedback form, or our mailing address to:

  • Send spam, bulk solicitations, chain letters, or unrelated marketing.
  • Harass, threaten, or abuse anyone.
  • Impersonate any person or organization, or misrepresent who you are.
  • Send malware, phishing links, or other harmful content.
  • Send another person’s Personal Information without their permission.
  • Submit forms through automated means, or fill in fields that are meant to be left empty.

Security and Integrity

You may not:

  • Probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the Site or any related system without our written permission, except as described in Reporting Security Issues below.
  • Try to get into administrative areas, accounts, or systems that you are not authorized to use.
  • Get around, disable, or interfere with security features, rate limits, or other protections, including the protections Cloudflare provides for the Site.
  • Overload, flood, or disrupt the Site, or send it requests in a way meant to make it unavailable to others.
  • Introduce viruses, malware, or other harmful code.

Automated Access

You may not use scrapers, crawlers, or other automated tools to access the Site in a way that sends more requests than a person using a normal web browser could reasonably send, or that degrades the Site for others. Search engine indexing that follows the Site’s published crawler instructions is permitted.

Content and Brand Names

You may not:

  • Copy or republish Site Content beyond what the Terms of Service or a License allows.
  • Use our brand names or logos in a way that suggests we sponsor, endorse, or are affiliated with you.
  • Remove or change copyright, trademark, or license notices.

Products

You may not use the Products to break the law or to violate the rights of others. This includes recording another person’s location without that person’s consent.

Payments

You may not make fraudulent payments, use a payment card you are not authorized to use, or file payment disputes in bad faith.

Reporting Security Issues

If you believe you have found a security issue on the Site or in a Product, please tell us through the Contact form or by mail. Give us a reasonable time to fix it before you disclose it publicly, and do not access, change, or delete data that does not belong to you. We do not offer payment for security reports.

Reporting Abuse

To report a violation of this policy, contact us through the Contact form or by mail. Please include enough detail for us to understand and look into the issue.

Enforcement

If we believe you have violated this policy, we may take any action we consider appropriate, including deleting your Submissions, blocking your access to the Site or the Services, and reporting the matter to law enforcement. We are not required to monitor use of the Site, but we may investigate suspected violations.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the updated version at https://bristleconeit.com/acceptable-use/ and change the version number and the Effective Date.
